Be Human - Composed by Yoko Kanno and  Vocals by Scott Matthew

I analyze and I verify and I quantify enough
100 percentile no errors no miss
I synchronize and I specialize and I classify so much
Don’t worry ‘bout dreaming because I don’t sleep —

I wish I could at least 30 percent
Maybe 50 for pleasure then skip all the rest

If I only was more human
I would count every single second the rest of my life
If I just could be more human
I’d have so many little babies and maybe a wife

I’d roll around in mud and have lots of fun then when I was done
Build bubblebath towers and swim in the tub
Sand Castles on the beach, frolick in the sea, get a broken knee
Be scared of the dark and I’d sing out of key

Curse when I lost a fight, kiss and reunite, scratch a spider’s bite
Be happy with wrinkles I got when I smile
Pet kittens ‘till they purred, maybe keep a bird, always keep my word
I’d cry at sad movies and laugh ‘till it hurt

I’d buy a big bike, I’d ride by the lake
And I’d have lots of friends and I’d stay out too late

If I could just be more human
I would see every little thing with a gleam in my eye
If only I was more human
I’d embrace every single feeling that came in my life

Would I care and be forgiving?
Would I be sentimental and would I feel loneliness?

Would I doubt and have misgivings?
Would I cause someone sorrow too? Would I know what to do?

Will I cry when its all over?

When I die will I see Heaven?

Ghost in the Shell music.

Steve Conte - Living Inside The Shell

Roaming inbetween the worlds of sleep and awake
Seems so far away from where I've been and untrue but unafraid
Intrusting -- my soul -- I know I must be taken to see the world that is
Not so far from now

Imaginations come and sweep the shores of my mind
Letting it be, visions pass, and emotions arise--
Letting them go, and beyond are doors I've never seen, opening one by one

(Wake up and show the light, wake up the time is right)
I hear a voice, hear a voice calling out to me
Look inside, see the light now ever holding you
All the truth is all you need to make of your reality, its right here
Look deep within your shell

Finding out a galaxy of planets and stars within me
Listening to each of them singing the same silent melody
I've never seen such beauty in possibility -- no speck of doubt or fear

(Wake up and show the light, wake up the time is right)
I hear a voice, hear a voice calling out to me
I see inside, see the light now ever holding me
All the truth, all I need to make of this reality it's -- beauty within the shell

(Wake up and show the light, wake up the time is right)
I hear a voice, hear a voice calling out to me
I see inside, see the light now ever holding me
All the truth, all I need to make of this reality, it's inside
Right here within this shell

The sandglass starts for another time's beginning from within
Cotton fields, mama's arms are gently unfolding me into the new...

(Wake up and show the light, wake up the time is right)
[Reading]
Here from behind my sight, my thoughts my mind
Show from the light
The time is right
And from the depth within show the balance
Of outer and inner harmony
Mind and heart, soul and spirit undivided
Here's where teh true strength and beauty lies
We'll see this before us with our own eyes
We'll see, with our own eyes... LOVE

(Wake up and show the light, wake up the time is right)
I hear a voice, hear a voice calling out to me
I see inside, see the light now ever holding me
All the truth, all I need to make of this reality it's -- beauty within the shell

Song Title: Beauty is within Us
Album: Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex OST
Producer/Composer: Yoko Kanno
Performed by:
Scott Matthew
Lyrics by: Chris Mosdell

O mother dear
Look what you’ve done
To your forlorn and once beloved son
Why was I born at all?
O mother dear
I’m such a freak
A mutant man, a woman underneath
Why was I born at all?

It’s you I blame for all the shame
This anguish and this aching
The mirror turned against the wall
Myself despised, forsaken

*You say, “Beauty is within us, your mother knows”
“There’s a beauty that’s within us, just like a rose”
*You say, “Beauty is within us, so let it grow”
But it’s grown so dark and ugly

O mother dear
I curse you so
For breathing life into your wretched son
Why were you born at all?
O mother dear
I love you so
O please forgive this anger in my soul
Without you I’m alone

It’s me who’s been eternally damned
Trapped inside this cage, a ruined man
All damaged and depraved

O mother dear
This misery
Has settled like a stain upon my skin
- a vast unspoken sin

And my mistake is much too late
But your mistake was trusting
That out of grief, a goodness comes
And love comes out of lusting

*You say, “Beauty is within us, your mother knows”
“There’s a beauty that’s within us, just like a rose”
*You say, “beauty is within us, so let it grow”
But it’s grown so dark and ugly

*You say, “Beauty is within us, your mother knows”
“There’s a beauty that’s within us, just like a rose”
*You say, “Beauty is within us, so let it grow”
But it’s grown so dark I can not see you anymore

“O beauty is within us, mother knows”
“O beauty is within us, like a rose”
“O beauty is within us, let it grow”
O mother dear, let me out of here!

“Blue” - The Seatbelts (Yoko Kanno)

Simple Lyrics….

Never seen a blue sky
Yeah I can feel it reaching out
And moving closer
There’s something about blue
Asked myself what it’s all for
You know the funny thing about it
I couldn’t answer
No I couldn’t answer

Things have turned a deeper shade of blue
And images that might be real
May be illusion
Keep flashing off and on
Free
Wanna be free
Gonna be free
And move among the stars
You know they really aren’t so far
Feels so free
Gotta know free
Please
Don’t wake me from the dream
It’s really everything it seemed
I’m so free
No black and white in the blue

Everything is clearer now
Life is just a dream you know
That’s never ending
I’m ascending

Session 5: Ballad of Fallen AngelsBounty: Mao YenraiSynopsis: Spike’s past catches up with him in “Ballad of Fallen Angels”.  You only get a glimpse of his past in the very first episode, but now the viewer gets a more indepth look.  At first, we learn Spike used to be part of The Red Dragon syndicate, but by Spike’s attitude toward learning Mao is the next target, the viewer can tell Mao is part of something Spike has been trying to forget and run away from.  However, he still feels a duty to getting to Mao and goes, against Jet’s wishes, to find him and learn what has happened to his old boss.  Faye also gets caught up in the action and leaves to catch Mao, only to be captured herself.  We also meet two other characters who are important to Spike, Annie and Vicious, and who play a part in the series’ end.  Spike is drawn out to an old cathedral on Mars to rescue Faye, battle Vicious, and release himself from his memories.  Vicious, his old comrade and partner, wants to kill Spike because he is a threat and because of Spike’s betrayal.  However, on a deeper level, killing Spike would be like killing off his own weaknesses in order to succeed in the syndicate.  He and Spike are the antithesis of each other.  Both were traveling down the same path, but then Spike changed his moral views of being part of the syndicate—at this point in the series, we assume it’s because of the unknown woman in his flashbacks.  Now, Vicious needs to kill Spike in order to kill that part of himself.  In the end, Vicious slightly succeeds, but Spike gets the last laugh.  After being thrown out the window, the viewer is propelled into Spike’s past again with glimpses of his time in the syndicate and meeting the unknown woman, but he is then woken up in the present and back on the Bebop.Favorite Quotes: (There are so many amazing quotes in this episode; it’s hard to choose just one.)Vicious: You should see yourself.  Do you have any idea what you look like right at his moment, Spike?Spike: What?Vicious: A ravenous beast.  The same blood runs through both of us.  The blood of a beast who wanders, hunting for the blood of others.Spike:  I’ve bled all that kind of blood away.Vicious:  Then why are you still alive?! “When angels are forced out of heaven, they become devils.” - Vicious “I’m just watching a bad dream I never wake up from.” - SpikeFeatured Songs:Slipper SleazeAve MariaWaltz for ZiziRain (performed by Mai Yamane)Green BirdPiano Bar
